In the summer of 2007 I was commissioned to paint a 7'x30' mural depicting Tehachapi's first air mail flight, which took place in 1938. The pilot, Harry Beauford, Jr., is the addressee on the commemorative envelope, which is postmarked with the date of that flight, and with a 6 cent stamp issued by the Postal service that week.
